I currently take care of my best friend of 34 years who has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and has no local family. It is hard for me to get away from work during the day, but today I took some time off so that I could take her out to lunch. We often had lunch together before her illness and she so enjoyed having the one on one time today like we used to have just to sit and enjoy each others company. Caretaking is difficult and can easily be viewed as a sacrifice. But today I viewed it as a privilege…being there for someone who relies on you during their time of need is what friendship is all about. The is Deed A Day Project deed #7. 358 deeds to go!

What a wonderful deed…I am sure it is difficult for you to see your friend “go away”, big hug to you for how this is also affecting you.
