Heart to Heart

Thank a Health Care worker..you never know when you might need them. Today I bought a box of muffins and bagels and delivered it to the coronary care unit at Via Christi for the nursing staff with a thank you card and a Do The Deed card attached. I know first hand how hard they work and I wanted them to know they are appreciated. On the way out, I met a wonderful woman named Yvonne in the hospital lobby, sitting in her wheelchair on her hospital gown. I felt compelled to stop, which is something I would normally not do. I’m glad I did. She sits in the lobby because she has little family and has been a patient in the hospital for almost a month. I asked her if she would like to go for a stroll and we spent the next 30 minutes chatting as I pushed her up and down the hallway. Perhaps this was the real reason I visited the hospital today. Any other time I would have walked right past her. Perhaps we all need to step out of our comfort zones to find the true meaning of giving. The is Deed A Day Project deed number 2. 363 deeds to go.
