Volunteering can be helpful, educating and exciting. I personally enjoy volunteering and helping people out in my community giving time back to your community can benefit everyone and personally if you enjoy helping people out then volunteering is the best fit for you.
Over this fall semester I volunteered at (DRC) Derby Recreation Center. I’d also work there part time as a support staff. As I volunteer the job was to watch over the students from the Derby six grade center and the middle school students from the time they get off of school students will head over to the recreation center to hang out.
At the recreation center kids can hang out with their friends and enjoy the activities there that were assigned from the staff. Students have many activities to do like playing basketball, indoor kickball, and watching movies. Every week they will have different activities they can do and enjoy while they are at the derby recreation center.
The Derby Recreation Center has been a really good place to have in the Derby Community. When students come to the DRC it will help take them off the streets and will provide kids the safest place to be and hang out. DRC always have deputies there to watch over the kids make sure the place is safe and secure at all times.
My family has encouraged and motivated me to success. To graduated high schools and go to college. With the support of my family and friends have given me is the one most important things happen in my life. With the support I have feels like nothing is impossible to achieved what I learn through over the years have taught me a very important lesson in my life to give and support the person you love while you on this earth and give back to your community.
Before I did the volunteering work at the Derby Recreation Center I have different thought about working at a place like watching over the kids and being around them. After doing this work I came out with a different behaviors and attitude which change me as a human being. When I’m at work now to see the kids there and knowing that they have a placed to hang out do activities in a safe environment that we are trying to provide makes me feel better knowing I’m a part of that.
What does the term “Civic Responsibility” means to me is to do the right thing for you and well as other. It’s the right thing to do also citizenship status, under social contract. Active citizenship is the philosophy that citizens should work towards the betterment of their community through economic participation, public service, and volunteer work to help others in the community.
