Take a senior moment

Ask an elder a question. You’re sure to learn something. Yesterday I sat down by an older woman on the bus. She was holding a rough-hewn walking stick with a big red fake gem glued on top. I asked the story of the cane and she proceeded to tell me about her life as an artist. I was so glad I asked. I think she was, too.

I find this an especially lovely deed for a couple of reasons: You ride the bus! Excellent! Two: She was alone on the bus, probably for a variety of reasons. And three: I truly believe that the elderly in our community need a lot more attention, and I love that you asked her about her cane, and really listened. Bless your heart! So awesome!
